No Space for Toolbars: Firefox Extension Development
As Internet took an important place for information searching and storing, browsers are in race to offer unperturbed browsing to its users. The recent launch of incredible range of netbooks and tablets has kept Firefox extension developers on their feet all the time.
Did you know that Firefox and Chrome together hold a market share of 43 percent? And now Chrome and Firefox are working on making hassle-free browsing on their respective browsers. While Chrome is all set to provide larger working space for tablet users, Firefox extension development is much advanced as it launches an extension for its current browser, Firefox 4.
The extension is named as LessChrome HD and allows users to hide the toolbar or even the URL bar when not in use. You can simply take a mouse over the tab or over an active empty tab to let the toolbars emerge when you need them. Unlike Chrome’s equivalent feature, LessChrome HD extension doesn’t reduce the horizontal space occupied by pop-up toolbars.
Chrome has implemented similar features in its Chrome Canary 13 browser, which is out as a beta. Chrome offers toolbar hiding features along with certain user-interface streamline options. Firefox extensions development has further enhanced its extension feature. As compared to Chrome, Firefox offers more pragmatic approach as it offers extensive customization to its browser user-interface.
LessChrome HD allows users to explicitly select the tools they want to see even in the absence of the toolbar. It also provides further customization by selecting whatever user-interface elements they want in the tab bar. It confers sophisticated browser look and better working space.
News revealed that Firefox developers are working on a new full-fledged concept that allows user to customize user-interface. Mainly designed for tech-savvy, it customizes to the extent that it won’t appeal realistic users. However, add-ons that hide URLs are more vulnerable to phishing attacks. Be careful!
